Today's Image of Mars was taken from low orbit by the Viking I Orbiter in an attempt to help scientists get a better understanding of the atmosphere on Mars. Coincidentally the orbiter captured Galle Crater in its photo.
Galle Crater is often called the 'Smiley Face Crater' because it resembles a happy face icon. Galle Crater is 230km in diameter.
